Known issues that could affect live captions

Due to the complex nature of live video stream architecture, there are some components outside of our control, that can change. One example is browser architectures. Whilst we’ll do our very best to maintain a robust architecture to those market changes, sometimes there are issues caused by components entirely outside of our control. If you have any concerns, please reach out to your account manager who can schedule time with our technical team to review your event playout ecosystem.

Known issues:

  1. [Updated as of July 5th 2024] Safari (desktop and iOS) users may see some caption times being degraded. Currently, CaptionHub cannot guarantee timing precision for all captions for all Safari users. This is due to the black-box nature of how Safari delivers video segments. This issue could affect Safari and iOS browsers, which use Safari under the hood.
  1. [Updated as of July 5th 2024] Android captions delivered via Brightcove may require additional styling. Caption styling is controlled by your video player, and in some instances we’ve seen sub-optimal styling on Android mobile portrait ratios. This can be solved by Brightcove updating their styling for your account, please reach out to your Brightcove account manager.
