Configure the CaptionHub Live plugin for the Brightcove player
Add the CaptionHub Live plugin to a Brightcove player to add live captions
Player support
CaptionHub Live is supported in the latest versions of Brightcove Live Player versions 6 and 7. At the time of writing, player versions 6.67.5, 6.67.7 and 7.11.2, 7.13.4 are supported and recommended for best performance for captioning from CaptionHub Live. Earlier versions of 6 and 7 may work but are not supported by technical support or resolution for issues, nor are retrospectively tested. We recommend that earlier players are tested prior to production use for issues, and that in any case the latest player is used.
Adding the plugin
Follow these steps to add CaptionHub Live to a Brightcove player:
- Open Brightcove, and navigate to the Players section
- Click on the Add player button at the top right, and choose a name for your player — something like “Brightcove (CaptionHub Live)” might suit. You can also duplicate an existing player.
- In the list of players, click on the player you’ve just created
- Click on Plugins, and click on the Add a Plugin button
- From the dropdown, choose Custom Plugin
- Configure the name and URL of the plugin:
- In the Plugin name field, paste in
CaptionHubLive - In the JavaScript URL field, paste in
https://app.captionhub.com/live/brightcove-plugin-1.14.js
- Click Save
- Click the Publish & Embed button at the top right
- Your player should look similar to the screenshot below
- To verify that you’ve configured your player correctly, go to the Player status page in CaptionHub.
