Speechmatics supports automatic language identification for transcription. When Speechmatics is set as your transcription provider, you can select β€˜Automatically detect language (Speechmatics)’ when auto-transcribing a project or configuring the original caption language in an automation template.

Speechmatics specific settings

Profanity filtering

When enabled, this feature allows you to identify, redact, or obfuscate profanities in the transcriptions. This can be useful in contexts where you need to ensure the language in your transcriptions is appropriate for all audiences.

Disfluency filtering

Disfluencies - a set list of words that imply hesitation or indecision such as 'hmm' or 'um' - can be automatically removed from your transcript. This setting is automatically enabled for all teams. Deselecting this turns off disfluency removal. When disfluencies are removed, they do not show up in the transcript output at all.

Audio Events for non-speech sound identification

When enabled, this feature is designed to enhance the captioning of audio within media by using AI to automatically label non-speech events such as [music], [laughter], [applause], or other ambient sounds. When enabled, audio events are added to the second caption track and can be particularly useful in providing context to the transcriptions.
