Resetting MFA
Caution: Hackers will sometimes use ‘social engineering’ to request the MFA reset of a user whose account they are attempting to compromise. Before resetting MFA for a user, ensure they are who they say they are, noting that emails and SMS messages can easily be spoofed.
If you lose the device you used to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA, sometimes called 2FA), you can ask one of your team’s superusers to reset it. When logged in as a superuser, here is how to reset the MFA of a user.
- Click the “Users” tab, and search for the user for whom you want to reset MFA
- Click on that user’s email address/display name to view their profile
- Click “Edit user”
- Go to the “Account & security” tab
- Click “Reset MFA”
The user will receive an email to set up their MFA again.
