Working collaboratively in CaptionHub often requires communication, and CaptionHub offers built-in tools to help β€” including Project Notes, Notes, and Comments.

Project notes

In addition to notes and comments within the Caption Editor, you can create project-level notes directly on the Project page. These are helpful for sharing overarching context, instructions, or background relevant to the entire project.

You can also access Project notes via the Language notes tab in the Caption Editor β€” allowing you to view high-level information without leaving the editing environment.

Notes in the Caption Editor

Notes β€” also referred to as Language notes β€” can be accessed by clicking the messaging icon to the right of the language and State badges. You can also filter your captions to view only those with notes by clicking the comment icon at the top of the editor.

To use, simply type your note, and hit "Send note" when you're done. You can delete your note if you need.

Comments in the Caption Editor

CommentsΒ are very similar to notes, but operate on the caption level – for more specific note making. To leave a comment, click on the comment icon on the right-hand side of any caption.

Clicking will open a comment window where you can add or edit your comments.

Once comments have been added, a comment bar will appear. Clicking on it will show you which captions have comments, and will navigate you directly to them.

Additionally, when a comment is added to a caption, you can filter your captions to show only those with comments by toggling the caption icon at the top of your spreadsheet view. This will display only the captions that have comments.

Broadcast comments & notes

Sometimes you may wish to share the comments and notes that have been made in original captions with their translated counterparts.

To make use of broadcasting, simply make your comment or note, then hit the broadcast icon.

Once it’s blue, then it’ll be available in the translations as well. This also applies to captions created after you’ve made the original comment or note.

Resolve comments

Comments can now be resolved, and once resolved, they will move to the Resolved tab.

Comments can also be resolved within translations by other users within a team, when they have been broadcast from the source. However, resolving a comment in a translation does not resolve it in the source.

Broadcast comments are copies of the original, meaning that resolving a comment in one language (e.g., Spanish) does not affect other translations (e.g., French). This ensures clarity and independence across different language versions.
