Live captions for a Mux HLS stream

How to live caption a HLS stream from Mux

Mux live streaming outputs HLS that is compatible with CaptionHub Live.

Supported features

CaptionHub Live can be used regardless of ingest method (RTMP, RTMPS, SRT)

Audio-only streams are fully supported

Requirements

You will need to set the latency_mode to standard. Any other setting will not work.

Using DRM is not currently supported

Limitations

[October 2024] Subtitles using our video.js player plugin are sometimes mistimed by 1 second. We recommend using the THEOplayer plugin in this case.
