Setting up SCIM

πŸ’‘

Note: SCIM is only available as an add-on for the Enterprise plan, and requires SSO to also be enabled. To set it up, please speak to your account manager.

Β

SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) is a way of managing the lifecycle of SSO users automatically from your Identity Provider (e.g. Okta, Entra Id, etc.). Without SCIM, our SSO uses β€œJust-in-Time” provisioning, and roles are managed within the CaptionHub application. With SCIM, we can automatically sync users with your Identity Provider so that new users are automatically added, removed ones are deleted and updates to user details are propagated. It’s also possible to map user groups in your Identity Provider to roles on CaptionHub, to make centralised control easier.

Setup

If you would like to map Identity Provider groups onto CaptionHub roles, you will need to create groups on your Identity Provider for each role. You can name these in whatever way you want, but an example is:

  • CaptionHub Superusers
  • CaptionHub Producers
  • CaptionHub Language Supervisors
  • CaptionHub Linguists
  • CaptionHub Reviewers

After these roles have been set up, please ask CaptionHub support to send you a link to set up SCIM. The process is self-serve, and will guide you through the steps for your particular Identity Provider.

Follow the instructions in the link sent until it comes to the point of assigning users to the SCIM application. At this point, you should instead assign the groups you created above.

After groups have been pushed, please inform our support team so we can map them onto the appropriate roles.
