Control who can see live captions
Use live streams in private mode
This feature is being rolled out, it might not be visible in your account yet
Normal CaptionHub Live projects are in public mode. This means the captions are accessible to all users who have the URL. This is intended for public video streams.
You can change the visibility of the project under βAdvanced optionsβ.

Private mode
In private mode the endpoints are locked down. CaptionHub exposes caption data only to users who are signed in to CaptionHub as superuser and via the API.
You can use this feature to:
- Build an integration with our webhooks or API
- Evaluate CaptionHub privately (including downloading the output as VTT)
- Build captions delivery with user authorisation using a proxy
- Display in-room captions to attendees using the in-room display
Limitations in private mode
- No support for viewing the captions in a video via the HLS integration
- No support for the transcript widget
