Which HLS streams are supported by Timbra
Timbra supports most flavours of HLS/CMAF. The following streaming providers are known to output compatible HLS:

It’s likely that Timbra is compatible with the output of your streaming provider. We support both traditional HLS and CMAF HLS. Please contact us if you want to discuss compatibility of your streaming setup.
HLS stream requirements
- The stream needs to be publicly accessible
- The stream can’t use encryption or DRM
- Plugin output only: the segment needs to have a
#EXT-X-PROGRAM-DATE-TIMEtag
- HLS output only: the playlist needs to be a fixed length (DVR is not supported)
- The minimum segment size is 5 seconds, and minimum total playlist size is 15 seconds.
- The HLS stream needs to allow CORS in order to provide a preview inside CaptionHub.
Supported HLS features
- When using separate audio playlists, the default audio stream will be transcribed. You can also override the track used for transcription. Have multiple audio tracks in different languages? We have support for that too.
- We support MPEG-TS or Fragmented MP4 (fMP4) video. Using Packed Audio is also supported.
