Voice dictionaries are used to fine tune the pronunciation of words in CaptionHub Voiceover.

Creating a voice dictionary

Go to your team’s Voice dictionaries and click to create a new dictionary.

You can now create a list of words/phrases and specify a pronunciation. This is useful in cases where you want to pronounce an acronym (”United Nations” instead of “UN”) or where you need to fine tune the pronunciation of product, titles or people (”Brooklyn Nine-Nine” instead of “Brooklyn Ninety-Nine”).

Preview

By choosing a language and voice, you can preview the pronunciation by clicking on the audio icon.

Note that the pronunciation of words is dependent on the context. In most cases, the voice providers algorithm will look at the sentence to determine how to pronounce certain words. For example, “lead” will correctly differ in the following sentences: “The pipes are made of lead” and “He will lead the team to victory”. This means that the preview can differ from how it’ll be pronounced in the final product.

Using a voice dictionary

Once you’ve created the voice dictionary, you can select it when creating a voiceover.

You can select multiple voice dictionaries. If the same word exists in multiple dictionaries, the first one will be chosen.
